late last year AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.2, the latest version developed by them, the open source DLSS alternative Upscaling technology, announced. After a while, this technology appeared in a few games, including Need For Speed Unbound and F1 22, but AMD had not yet made FSR 2.2 available to all developers. This week AMD has officially released the source code of FSR 2.2, which makes it possible for anyone (independent developers, modders, etc.) to use this technology.
Current Games Using AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR2) Technology

The information in the official release note of AMD FSR 2.2 is as follows:
“FidelityFX FSR2 v2.2.0 is a major update that significantly improves image quality for many situations and makes it easier to avoid these errors with an API checker that helps with many common integrity issues and integrity verification.
On the application side, the FSR2 API has changed, so upgrading from FSR 2.1.2 to 2.2 will create some workload. Developers should pay particular attention to changes to mask generation in best quality upscaling. We've also resolved many issues reported by users, both on Github and elsewhere. We have not finished analyzing all the reports submitted to Github, but we review and appreciate all your valuable feedback. We thank you for all your contributions to helping us build a better FSR2.”
The changes that have been made
Introduction of the API controller debugger,
Improvements in “High Velocity Ghosting” situations,
Making improvements in the pre-exposure application in gloss calculation.
Small motion vectors are ignored in previous depth estimation.
Accumulation regeneration to use transient reactivity.
Changing the technique of how tonemapping and storage of intermediate signals is done.
Improvement of luminance instability logic.
Tonemapping is no longer applied during RCAS to preserve more dynamic range.
